At Kailua Beach Adventures, we love celebrating the people, experiences, and the community that makes paddling in Hawaiʻi so special. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Castle, who recently took on his very first six-man channel crossing!
After 5 hours and 4 minutes on the water, Castle crossed the finish line exhausted, with his mind feeling a little broken, but with an experience he’ll never forget. Here’s a look back at his journey in his own words.
A Race to Remember
“This year’s channel crossing was my very first in the six man. After 5 hours and 4 minutes, my body was exhausted and mind slightly broken. So crossing the finish line made me very happy because it meant we were done.
Even though I was happy to be done with the race and pain, I still loved every second of it and can’t wait to do it again.”
For Castle, the experience was about more than crossing the finish line. He had the opportunity to challenge himself alongside the brothers of Lanikai Canoe Club in one of the sport’s most prestigious races.
The journey was made even more meaningful by the people they were paddling for.
Honoring Paddling Legends
“Everything about this race is special, and this year felt a little extra special for me because it was my first and I had the vision of two legends in mind.”
Paddling in memory of Kai Bartlett and Karel Tresnak Jr. gave the crossing an even deeper meaning. Their influence on the paddling world continues to inspire athletes like Castle, reminding us that the sport is about more than competition. It’s also about honoring those who have helped shape its legacy.
“Finishing 15th overall gives me motivation for next year to do better and train harder. Can’t wait for the next!”
We’re proud of Castle for taking on this challenge, pushing his limits, and embracing every part of the experience. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next!

What's Next for Castle?
Castle is an avid paddler and continues to train daily for what lies ahead. On top of that he is currently attending UH Manoa for his Bachelors of Business!
