  • Are permits necessary to visit Flat Island or Moku Nui Island (Mokulua Islands)?

Yes. The Hawaii Dept. of Land and Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife Division, manages these offshore islands as bird nesting sanctuaries. A $3/person/day permit is required for landing but can apply to both islands (Popoi'a and Moku Nui). Permits are included with all of our guided tours, lessons and self guided tours packages. Permits cannot be reserved or purchased in advance but are generally available when you check-in for your equipment. The DLNR regularly sends enforcement to the islands with fines costing as much as $1500 for not having a permit. With the permits only costing $3 per person, it's not worth the risk of not getting a permit.

  • We offer a 2-hour guided kayak tour to Flat Island and a 5-hour guided kayak tour to the Mokulua (Twin) Islands.

  • Locker rentals are included with all tour packages.
