KBA's Waterman experience 

our waterman Program offers groups the opportunity to learn valuable lifesaving skills from PROFESSIONALS. Participants will gain knowledge about ocean conditions, rescue techniques, physical fitness, and teamwork Skills.

Kayak Safety Training Agenda

  • Communication Protocols

    1. Hand signals, whistles, etc.

  • Overview of technical skills

    1. Steering, Boat Control & Positioning

    2. Stability & Bracing Techniques

    3. Run drills: Turn quickly using sweep + slight edge
      Paddle next to a guide creating a wake
      Practice edging while towing
      Use edging during boat stabilization (assisted rescue)

  • Sharing of recent stories on the water and how guides have dealt with them previously/what they have learned

  • Technical Skills

    1. Self-Rescue

    2. Assisted Re-entry Techniques

      1. Life Jacket Assist Rescue

    3. Boat Roll Technique - To be used once life jacket assist rescue has failed


Your group will leave with stronger bonds, fresh perspectives, and a shared sense of accomplishment. Complete with a team photo and take home mementos to commemorate the day.
